Love in the Beginning

This week I made a post on Preacher Al's Blog called What is Love?  It has provoked me to write more on the topic of Love.  I prefer a biblical perspective on things, but I also find that asking questions reveals both what resides in our hearts and also helps us to get to the root of things.

My plan is to walk through a number of scriptures and engage my readers in a dialog through various questions about how we could articulate the different ways that we do or do not love others.  I think one of the quintessential scriptures is 1 Cor 13.  I will also be looking at the Greatest Commandment, Roman's chapter 12 and some of Jesus' references to love.

I think it is vital for us to engage the Bible because otherwise we are tempted to make our own "truth" instead of embracing "The Truth" of God's Word.  Some people try to downplay love saying that holiness is mentioned more often.  Yet we are informed by the Word that God is Love; we are further admonished that the true test of our faith in Christ is our love and we read that if we do not move in God's love (agape love) then our lives and purposes are worthless.  Such a key element of life in Christ must be looked into closely.

Please pray with me that I will be able to persevere in this topic and will not be distracted or discouraged from finishing it.  I pray that it will be a blessing to you.
